Bio

Lorraine grew up in the small town of West Bridgewater, Massachusetts, 30 miles S.E. of Boston.

She moved to Cape Cod in 1991.

She  considers herself very lucky to have had a talented High School Art  Teacher, Mr. Blackett, who helped her create a portfolio. After High  School she taught herself how to work on the potters wheel.

When she saw a sculptural wall mural created by ceramic artist John Moakley,  who was teaching in his own studio, she knew she had to work with him.  He helped her hone her skills and Moakley convinced her to apply to The  School of the Museum of Fine Arts, Boston, where he had studied and  taught. She applied and was accepted, and graduated in 1983 with a  Diploma from their 4 year Program of Fine Arts.

After  graduating from Museum School, she accepted a job in a woodworking shop  in the Design Department. She took to it quickly and loved the process  of designing Kitchen and Baths from start to finish. She has been  successful at it to this day.

In  2010, Lorraine decided it was time to get back to her art work. She  signed up at Truro Center for the Arts/Castle Hill for the Ceramic Arts  Program taught by another talented artist, Brian Taylor. Brian brought her up to date with the new ceramic world. Since 2015, she has been working in her own studio at home.
